I was looking for something a little different to read this month and one book caught my eye for a few reasons.
First, look at the cover. Hello.
Second, I’m always down for a good underdog story. Not that “coming out” necessarily denotes an underdog story per se, but I feel like there’s a pretty standard thread in all coming out stories around breaking free from societal norms and pressure.
Third, the fact that this particular coming out story has the backdrop of professional sports intrigued me. What has historically been a pretty heterosexual, team-focused environment is an interesting setting for coming to terms with your own identity.
So there you have it. If you happen to be, i don’t know, snowed in after the biggest blizzard ever to hit the eastern seaboard, check out Coming Out to Play!
